HOW ADOPTION WORKS

Three steps to bring them home

01

Apply to adopt

Tell the organization about your experience, your facilities and the home you can offer.

02

Meet & match

Visit the horse, talk with the rescue team and make sure the bond is right for both.

03

Bring them home

Complete the adoption agreement and welcome a horse that will never forget it.

Adoption fees are set by each organization, typically between $200 and $1,500 — a fraction of the market price. The fee covers part of the veterinary care, feed and rehabilitation the horse received while in rescue. A fee of $0 is rare but possible for horses with special needs.
